My "Bad" Artwork

At 10:15 this Sunday night, a part of me will die with the story of Heisenberg.

Okay, that might be a bit dramatic, but seriously, Breaking Bad is ending and I am not sure how to feel about that.  The story of Walter White has been an incredible one and has inspired me to create some of my favorite pieces of art. Multiple pieces of tattoo flash, a laborious oil painting, a wood-burned design, and a quick typography treatment are all products of Mr. White and company captivating my imagination.

6 of these tattoo designs have found a home on the skin of two other BrBa fanatics, and I couldn’t be happier about or more flattered by that!

One episode left in the can, and perhaps another pieces in the works this week?
I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

Poster Art Process

This past week I rediscovered my love for poster art.

After focusing on designing tattoo flash almost exclusively over the 3 summer months away from the structured, focused creation that is a semester at CCS, I had almost lost sight of the many other styles I work in.  Luckily, I have a studio class dedicated solely to poster making which reminded me why posters are one of my favorite creative outputs.

I love looking at other artists’ sketches and thumbnails and really seeing what goes through their head that gets them to the finished product.  So, with this newly rediscovered passion burning, I thought I would share a bit of my visual process for two movie posters I created this week!

Welcome to 6B Artwork

Hey there!

My name is Brandon Bidleman and I am an illustrator and designer living, working, and studying in Detroit, Michigan. I’m currently in my junior at the College for Creative Studies where I refine and improve my craft every day.

I create under the name 6B Artwork. Not to conceal my identity or anything, I just think it has a nice ring to it and is easier for people to remember than ‘Brandon Bidleman.’ My pseudonym is derived from my preference in pencil type. I found that I could achieve every value I needed with a 6B pencil, and just like the pencil has become an extension of my arm, its name is now an extension of mine.

I love work that has confidence.  Style, subject matter, and medium are all irrelevant if the work does not radiate a sense of confidence and embrace what it is.

This blog will serve as a platform for me to share not only my own ideas, processes, and finished work, but also the ideas and work of those that inspire me. One-sided conversations aren’t much fun though, so your comments are more than welcome!

I can be contacted through my personal website, Email, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram

Thinking that you may be blogging to no one is an odd feeling. But one that, if everything goes well, will not last for long.
